Hi Dave, could you post me a link/recommendation of where to purchase a Barlow that would suit my scope, also where can I buy a red torch? Staying away from Ebay, thanks a million for sorting everything out for me, much appreciated and really looking forward to using the scope now, as opposed to dreading Autostar haha!

Hi Rachael,
I'm glad the scope worked out, it seems to me to be in full working condition and is nicely collimated and is a good alrounder.
I had a look on astromart and found this barlow
http://www.astromart.com/classifieds/details.asp?classified_id=671426
Its a meade model 140.
Its a good enough meade barlow and now you know it works on your scope.

Funnliy enough red torches are harder to come by second hand, as anyone who has one never sells them on, they always use them.

Rachel, I have special vinal adhesive film that I use for stained glass
which is perfect for making a regular torch a red light one.
Just buy a good bright halogen one (I got a great one in Lidl)
and the film can be cut to fit inside the glass.
Hey presto. A very cheap but effective red light torch.
It's also good for covering mobile phone screens to make them
usable in the dark.
I'll bring a sheet along at the next meeting.

I just spotted your post. I have 2 identical barlow lens and you are welcome to one if it suits your requirement. It is a Meade #126 2X telenegative multicoated (1.25").

A good red light are the energiser head torches that can be picked up in Dunnes, Atlantic homecare, 4home etc.. and a few other places. They are about €15 and have a red LED as well as two bright white lights for setting up gera etc.... Go for the model with the sliding switch and not the rubber push button switch as this allows the red light to come on without having to turn on the white lights sequentially- its much handier
I find these lights very good / reliable and the batteries last forever.

Hello Rachel, yes I was in Boher last Friday. Sorry you just missed the barlow on Astromart Sounds from your earlier post that you are just egtting going with your new scope. As I say, I have a second barlow as described, which is not being used and you are welcome to it for free. Just let me know if you want it. Might keep you going until another opportunity comes along to get a better one. Good luck with the new scope.

Hi Conn, if it's 100% ok with you, that would be brilliant, well appreciated. @ Frank, I actually got an led energizer thing yesterday, it has a red led, but the problem is this, when you turn it on, the white leds come on, then you have to press it to put on the red. Everytime I want to put on the red the white comes on first, would it be possible to cover the white leds with that stuff?

Rachel, I am pleased if somebody gets some use from it as it is surplus. I will bring it to next meeting unless you are anxious to get it sooner.

Hi Conn, the next meeting or observing sessing would be great, I couldn't do much with it at the moment with the horrible weather we are having!
